LISBON — The United Nations Global Compact joined technology companies and startups at the Web Summit 2019 to explore how innovative business solutions and disruptive technologies can help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Speakers at the SDG Media Zone included Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact and Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister, along with a diverse group of CEOs, tech industry leaders and more. The Swiss Network, along with many other local networks, was present at 'The Social Responsibility Week' as well as the UNGC's Annual Local Network Forum to discuss present issues and strategies of the UNGC.
The Web Summit attracted around 70,000 innovators and entrepreneurs and convened the founders and CEOs of technology companies, fast-growing startups, policymakers and politicians to help shape a new era of global business. At the SDG Media Zone, the UN Global Compact in partnership with the UN Department of Global Communications and the PVBLIC Foundation hosted a series of interviews and panel discussions on the intersection of business, technology and the Global Goals. The interest for business bustainability is gaining momentum as IT and AI technologies are increasingly confronted with sustainability questions which is perceived as a challenge and opportunity for companies.
A few glimpses of the Web Summit 2019 and the Social Responsibility Week
