Labour & Decent Work
In addition to human rights, the labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) are an essential component of decent work. These include freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of forced labour, the abolition of child labour, the prohibition of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation as well as occupational health and safety.
The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact take up these standards in Principles 3 to 6 and formulate a clear requirement for companies to respect the core labour standards. Against the backdrop of increasing legal requirements, many companies are faced with the question of how they can adequately address labour law risks in their supply and value chains. However, it is also worthwhile for companies to engage with core labour standards beyond the legal framework. A commitment to core labour standards can improve your supplier relationships, make supply chains more resilient, reduce risks and increase your attractiveness to applicants.
The UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein offers initial starting points, support, and guidance.
