WORKSHOP: Modern Slavery and Trafficking in Persons in Global Supply Chains

Debt bondage, wage abuses, recruitment fraud, removal of identity and travel documents, compulsory overtime, etc. - modern slavery occurs across sectors and all over the world, including in Western Europe. Modern slavery is a hidden crime and may be challenging for businesses to identify and address.

PURPOSE

  • Do you understand the changing expectations towards businesses regarding modern slavery and what they mean for your business?
  • How can you identify and address risks of modern slavery across your supply chains and business relations?
  • On what existing processes can you build, where are there gaps and what are possible next steps for your company?

These are some of the concrete questions that this workshop will address. Interactive exercises and case studies will encourage participants to share their experiences and learn from other businesses.

This workshop is commissioned by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) as part of the Swiss National Action Plan for the implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
